Sioux City Explorers News Release

Sioux City-----Before the largest crowd of the season at Lewis and Clark Park last night (2,352), Kansas City defeated the Explorers 10-1.

Kansas City scored in the first inning on a single by Jiro Perez that scored Kennard Jones who had opened the game with a double.

After the T-Bones took the lead 1-0, the Explorers came back and tied the game at 1-1 as Eliezer Mesa doubled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Judah. However, that would be the only run the X's would get as Sioux City was held to just five hits in the contest.

After Kansas City took the lead for good in the third inning 2-1, the T-Bones broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning. Kansas City stroked 17 hits, matching the most hits that the Explorers have given up this season. The T-Bones had 17 hits against the Explorers last Monday at Kansas City. Everyone in the Kansas City lineup had at least one hit, except Brandon Jones who went 0-5 at the plate.

Peter Barrows had two hits for the Explorers who for the third time this season have lost three straight.

The Explorers starter Josh Rainwater (1-5) took the loss while Aaron Tullo for Kansas City won his fourth game without a loss.

The final game of the three-game with Kansas City will take place Wednesday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
