
Saginaw Takes Win over Sudbury

The Saginaw Spirit faced off against the Sudbury Wolves for a Friday evening game at the Sudbury Community Arena. This is the second meeting between the two teams, as Saginaw takes the win over Sudbury 3-2.
Saginaw's Tye Felhaber kicked off the scoring in the first with an unassisted goal, his 10th of the season, at 4:03 to give the Spirit the lead over the Wolves 1-0. There were penalties traded but neither team could find the net from there, as Saginaw's starting goaltender David Ovsjannikov saw 9 shots on goal and Sudbury's Troy Timpano saw 10.
The second frame saw goals traded by both teams as Sudbury's Danny Desrochers tied up the score at one, 9 minutes into the second. Saginaw's Jacob Ringuette was able to capitalize off of a power play opportunity and score his 5th goal of the season with assists coming from Greg Di Tomaso and Chase Stewart to place the Spirit on top of the Wolves at the end of the second 2-1. Shots on goal for the second favored Sudbury 26-8.
Sudbury started the third by tying the score at two with a goal by Matt Schmalz, but Saginaw's Devon Paliani was able to slide the puck past Timpano to break the tie with his 6th goal of the season at 11:28 of the third. Chase Stewart and Connor Brown were credited with the assists. The evening finished out with Saginaw taking the win over Sudbury 3-2. Final shots on goal favored Sudbury 46-26.

The Saginaw Spirit will finish out their road trip with a game at the Barrie Molson Centre against the Barrie Colts Saturday, January 24th. The puck is set to drop at 7:30 p.m. Saginaw will return home to the Dow Event Center on Thursday, January 29th, at 7:11 p.m. to play host to the Plymouth Whalers.
