Belleville Bulls News Release

OTTAWA, ON - The Belleville Bulls kick off another 3 in 3 weekend as they head to our Nation's Capital for a tilt with the Ottawa 67's on Friday night. This is the 5th of eight meetings between the two clubs. The 67's, who currently sit four points ahead of the Bulls, have won their last three and will be looking to add another as they continue thier climb up the OHL's Eastern Conference standings. Belleville suffered two tough losses last weekend, first to the Oshawa Generals in overtime, then to the Niagara IceDogs in a shootout. The Bulls will be looking to rebound when the puck drops at 7:30 from TD Place.

Ottawa swept a home-and-home series with the Peterborough Petes last weekend. The 67's buried 8 goals while only allowing 3 against in two games. Veteran centre Dante Salituro registered 4 assists in the two games, while over age forward Brendon Bell scored 2 goals and picked up an assist. Goaltenders Leo Lazarev and Liam Herbst spilt the action between the pipes. Lazarev made 34 saves on Saturday night and Herbst made 20 saves on Sunday afternoon.

Travis Konecny and his teammate Liam Herbst took part in the BMO CHL Top Prospects Game on Thursday night in St. Catharine's. Konecny was named the Jim Gregory Player of the Game for Team Orr with two goals and an assist. Herbst saw a little over 29 minutes of action and made 21 saves shutting out Team Cherry during his time. Team Orr went on to win 6-0.

"Being on a line with Connor (McDavid) is really incredible, you never know where he's going to be and his breakaway speed is amazing so when I have the opportunity to give him the puck I do," said Konecny following the win.

The Bulls are coming off a down to the wire shootout loss to the Niagara IceDogs last Sunday. Despite being down 3-1 after the first period, the Bulls battled back thanks too defenceman Justin Lemcke, who scored his second of the game, and Burlington, Ontario native Stepehen Harper. Michael Cramarossa, Jordan Subban and Harper were all stopped in the shootout. Netminder Charlie Graham made 43 saves in the loss.

The Bulls will be without forwards Brett Welychka and Niki Petti as both are listed as week-to-week. Welychka suffered a knee injury on Saturday against Oshawa and Petti left with a back injury during Sunday's contest against Niagara.

"It's looking more positive for Niki since Sunday, he's on some medication to ease the pain," said Burnett. "The original report showed no serious damage. We'll see how it is over the next couple of days and take the proper precautions."

Belleville did manage to pick up 4 out of a possible 6 point weekend however and will look to turn things around as they kick off another busy weekend on the road.
