
Saginaw Faces off with London at the Dow Event Center

The Saginaw Spirit played host to the London Knights on Saturday, March 15th for a game that was a sneak peak at a possible playoff series. In a very physical game the visiting Knights pulled away with a 6-2 victory.
London jumped ahead 25 seconds into the game when Chris Tierney netted a wicked wrister that was assisted by Max Domi to put the Knights up 1-0 on the Spirit. London made it 2-0 two minutes into the first period after Mitchell Marner scored an even-strength goal that was set up by Owen MacDonald and Chandler Yakimowicz. With ten minutes remaining in the opening period London extended their lead to three after Matt Rupert netted a goal that was assisted by his brother Ryan Rupert and Bo Horvat. The Knights went up 4-0 when Max Domi scored an unassisted shorthanded breakaway goal with two minutes left in the first period.
Saginaw got on the board making it a 4-1 game when Kristoff Kontos netted a powerplay goal with thirteen minutes remaining in the second period that was assisted by Justin Sefton and Eric Locke. The Knights went up 5-1 when Owen MacDonald finished off a pretty passing play that was set up by Mitchell Marner with three minutes remaining in the second period.
With fourteen minutes left in the game, the Knights' Bo Horvat scored to make it a 6-1 game with an assist being credited to Ryan Rupert. Saginaw's Justin Sefton fired home a powerplay goal with 30 seconds remaining in the game that was assisted by Justin Kea and Jacob Ringuette to make it a 6-2 game, which is how the game ended.

Catch the Spirit: The Spirit will play their final regular season game on Monday March 17th at The Dow Event Center, as they will take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in a game that is slated to begin at 7:11 p.m. and features $1 beer, Pepsi, and Jets pizza from 5-7 p.m. The tickets for the first two first round playoff games are now on sale at saginawspirit.com.
