Your Generals were in action on Thursday night against the North Bay Battalion, this marked the final time Oshawa played the Battalion this season.  The Generals chose to rest a few veteran players for the game and sat out Daniel Altshuller, Josh Brown, Scott Laughton and Colin Suellentrop in preparation for the playoffs.  Oshawa called up Stephen Templeton to make his OHL debut, Templeton was drafted by the Generals in last April's OHL Draft. The Battalion got on the scoreboard first as their captain Barclay Goodrow scored a shorthanded goal 16:02 into the first period.  The Generals came up short on their PowerPlay attempts and trailed 1-0 after the first period. Kenny Appleby made nine saves on ten shots in the first as he got the start for the resting Altshuller.  Goodrow scored his second goal of the night early in the second period to extend the home team's lead to two.  The Battalion stretched their lead to three at 8:07 and held the lead after 40 minutes as they outshot the Generals 23-15 through two periods. The third period was a defensive minded twenty minutes and the Battalion outshot the Gens eight to five in the period. The Generals failed to score in the third, giving goalie Jake Smith the shutout and the Battalion the 3-0 victory.

The Belleville Bulls were in action Wednesday night against the red hot Peterborough Pete's. Peterborough came out flying scoring shorthanded just 6 minutes into the first frame. Belleville tied it up at ones with just 51 seconds remaining in the period to what they thought would be the last goal of the period, but they were wrong. Peterborough's Josh MacDonald scored with just 29 seconds left in the period to restore the 1 goal lead for the Pete's.  Belleville did not let that last second goal get to them as they came out of the dressing room on a mission. Belleville scored five unanswered goals including a penalty shot goal from Cameron Brace who had four goals on the night. Belleville went on to take the contest by a score of 6-2 and kept their playoff hopes alive!

Fans, while at tonight's game keep an eye on Belleville Bull's forward, Cameron Brace. Since being traded from Owen Sound in January, the Markham native has 25 goals and 17 assists for 42 points in 40 games.

Playoffs are just around the corner for your Eastern Conference division champions, the Oshawa Generals. Scott Laughton will be a big piece to the Generals long playoff run this postseason. In 53 games played this season, Laughton has 39 goals, 47 assists for 86 points.

Following tonight's game against the Bulls, your Generals will take on the Sudbury Wolves right here at the GM Centre on Sunday March 16th at 6:05 for their last regular season game.
