Ryan Reaves Makes NHL Debut with St. Louis
October 11, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Peoria Rivermen News Release
St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced Sunday the club recalled forward Ryan Reaves from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen.
Reaves, 23, made his NHL debut in the Blues 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks at Scottrade Center. His first game was cut short when he was assessed a game misconduct at 3:03 of the second period following his fight with Kyle Chipchura.
In playing, Reaves officially became the 47th player to play for the Rivermen and the Blues in the same season since the Rivermen joined the AHL prior to the 2005-06 season. Last season six different players (Lars Eller, Jonas Junland, Tyson Strachan, Yan Stasnty, Derek Armstrong and DJ King) all appeared in at least three games for each team.
Reaves is filling in for Cam Janssen, who suffered a concussion in the Blues' 2-1 overtime win Saturday vs. Philadelphia. According to Head Coach Davis Payne, Janssen is expected to miss two weeks of action and will be re-evaluated at that time.
Reaves has played 165 games with the Peoria Rivermen since the start of the 2007-08 season, including in Friday night's season opening game. He has collected 35 points (16 goals, 19 assists) and 343 penalty minutes over that time. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba he was originally drafted by St. Louis in the fifth round (#156 overall) in 2005.
The Rivermen wrap up their season opening homestand on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Rockford IceHogs. Season ticket packages are still on sale through the Rivermen office. Call (309) 676-1040 for more information or to reserve your seat for the upcoming season. To learn more about the benefits of becoming a Rivermen season ticket holder
