October 11, 2010 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release
The Atlanta Thrashers have reassigned goaltender Drew Macintyre (MAK-ihn-tighr) to the Chicago Wolves.
Macintyre, who was recalled on Saturday, backed up Thrashers netminder Chris Mason in their 5-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning that night. Prior to being recalled, he turned aside 25 shots in the Wolves season opener, a 6-3 loss to the San Antonio Rampage, on Oct. 8.
Last season, the 27-year-old netminder shared 10th in the AHL with a .917 save percentage, tied for 17th in the league with a 2.54 goals-against average and accrued a 20-17-2 record in 41 appearances with the Wolves. He held opponents to two or fewer goals 21 times, which includes a team-high three shutouts.
Overall, the Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, native has accrued a 118-75-10 record with a 2.41 goals-against average and 13 shutouts in 221 career AHL outings with Grand Rapids (2004-06), Manitoba (2006-08), Milwaukee (2008-09) and Chicago (2009-10), and appeared in two career NHL matchups with the Vancouver Canucks (2007-08), recording an 0-1-0 record and a 2.95 goals-against average.
The Wolves will face the Milwaukee Admirals in a pair of Amtrak Rivalry matchups this weekend, beginning at the Bradley Center on Friday at 7 p.m., before both teams visit the Allstate Arena for the Wolves home opener, presented by LifeSource, on Saturday at 7 p.m.
