Kronwall Departs Heat

Abbotsford Heat News Release


The Abbotsford Heat announced today that Staffan Kronwall has opted to end his tenure with the AHL's Abbotsford Heat and NHL Calgary Flames. With the Heat and Flames consent, Kronwall opted to return to his home club of Djurgardens IF in Stockholm Sweden.

Kronwall, a native of Jarfalla, Sweden, played in a total of 44 regular season and 9 playoff games during the 2009-10 campaign with the Abbotsford Heat of the American Hockey League - scoring 5 goals and contributing 25 assists. Kronwall played in a total of 193 regular season and 53 playoff games in the American Hockey League and 66 regular season games in the National Hockey League since transitioning to North America in 2005.

Kronwall rejoins Djurgardens IF Stockholm of the Swedish Elite League, a team he played with from 2002 through 2005.
