B.C. Lions News Release

(Vancouver) With playoff hopes on the line last week the Lions needed their best performance of the year and the defence responded with a five-turnover performance led by halfback Ryan Phillips who notched two interceptions. This morning, Phillips was rewarded for his efforts by being named Gibson's Finest Defensive Player of the Week.

Phillips entered the game with three picks on the year and left as the team leader with five. The two steals also mark the six-year Leo's 12th and 13th interceptions versus the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 17 career games.

Aaron Hunt's return to the line-up didn't go unnoticed by voters either as the interior defensive lineman was runner-up to Phillips in the category. The four-time West Division All-Star picked up three tackles and a critical interception to help propel the Lions to a 23-17 win.

The Lions travel to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats in a must-win regular season finale. The club will need a victory over Hamilton combined with an Edmonton loss in Regina in order to qualify for the playoffs for a 15th consecutive year.
