Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - As the 2010 season comes to a close, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers are holding Fan Appreciation Night when the Bombers take on the Calgary Stampeders at Canad Inns Stadium. Despite missing the playoffs, fans can be happy to look back on the season that was and take pride in knowing how much they mean to the team. Without the fans, the stadium never would have been loud enough on Thanksgiving to cause the BC Lions to take crucial penalties at crucial moments with the game on the line, or the Bomber defence wouldn't have had anything to feed off of in their 31-2 thrashing of the Saskatchewan Roughriders during the Banjo Bowl.
This week is also an important week for three members of the Bombers who are looking to lead the league in their respective categories. Receiver Terrence Edwards is enjoying a career year and sits 22-yards up on both Andy Fantuz and Arland Bruce for the league lead. Fred Reid is only 11 rushing yards behind Toronto's Cory Boyd and with a big game on Friday with the fans on his side, top spot is within his reach. On the defensive side of the ball, Phillip Hunt leads the league in quarterback sacks with 16 and his current pace of at least one sack in each of his past ten games means he could further distance himself from the competition and take league honours.
Every fan will receive the official 2010 Team Poster as well as a $10.00 Bomber Store Voucher. There will be giveaways throughout the game including a special season-ticket holder half-time draw with prizes such as a trip for two to the 2011 Grey Cup in Vancouver, a pair of tickets to the upcoming U2 concert or an autographed team helmet. Fans will be treated to a fireworks display at halftime courtesy of Archangel Fireworks.
Fans are encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy in support of the Toy Mountain Drive which helps Salvation Army deliver the toys during the Holiday season. The program is in association with the Winnipeg Firefighters and drop-off bins will be located at every gate.
As a special thank you to fans, The Bomber Store is selling Gold Zone seats for $20.00 for the game. Drop by soon as quantities are limited.
The Bomber Store will also be offering many other specials from now until November 7th and has also returned to the St. Vital Centre for the Holiday season. Some unique and new items are available only at St. Vital while supplies last. The grand opening is Saturday, November 6th with Buzz and Boomer in attendance.
Kickoff is set for 7:00pm on Friday, November 5th. Gates will be open at 5:30pm for season ticket holders and at 6:00pm for the general public. The gameday sponsor is Safeway Canada.
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster by calling 780-3333 or by visiting www.ticketmaster.ca . Blue and Gold vouchers are also available at any Safeway location.
