(Rapid City, SD) - Rapid City defeated the Mississippi RiverKings 3-2 on Saturday, December 6th in South Dakota. Mississippi ended an eight-game road trip with a 5-3-0 record and fell to 12-9-0 for the season.

Adam Smyth opened the scoring for the RiverKings with a power play goal at 14:24, assisted by Andrew Lackner and Matt Pierce. The goal was Smyth's second of the season and his first power play goal.

Rich Hansen answered with a deflection past RiverKings' goaltender Tyler Sims at 15:09 for a 1-1 tie after one period of play.

In the second period, Mississippi took a 2-1 lead when Garrett Larson poked home a loose puck, assisted by Adam Smyth at 1:04.

However, the Rush scored a power play goal at 14:11 when Jon Pelle scored his first goal of the season to tie the game at 2-2.

Rapid City took their first lead of the game, a 3-2 advantage, when Derek LeBlanc scored his fourth of the year at 18:33, a lead they held into the locker room after two periods.

There would be no further scoring in the contest.

The next games for the RiverKings will be December 12th and 13th in a two-game set against the Texas Brahmas at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, beginning at 7:05 PM each night.
