Bucks Bull Brahmas In Shootout 2-1

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX - The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Texas Brahmas 2-1 Saturday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre. The Bucks have won five straight games, and 10 of their last 11 to improve their Southeast leading record to 15-5 (30pts). The Bucks now lead the Brahmas (12-6-2, 26pts) by four points in the division.

Rookie Jason Dixon picked up the winning goal in the shootout, as he beat Brahmas goaltender Brett Jager with a poke in from the left side of the crease. Darryl Smith scored right after Dixon to put the Bucks up 2-0 in the shootout. Sebastien Centomo stopped all four Brahmas shooters to seal the deal for Laredo.

Centomo stopped 29 shots in net to imrove to 9-4 on the season in the Laredo net.

The Bucks jumped out in front just 3:06 into the game, when Darryl Smith scored his CHL-leading 16th goal of the season off of a pass from Bobby Russell in the slot. The assist was Russell's 10th of the campaign.

Laredo is now 11-3 when scoring first thus far this season.

Laredo killed off a Texas power-play just 30 seconds before they scored first.

The Bucks outshot the Brahmas 11-8 in the first period.

Texas would even the score up at 1-1 midway through the second period at the 10:01 mark. Jordan Cameron took the puck from the near corner, and wrapped all the way around the Laredo net before stuffing in a back hander past Sebastien Centomo. Cameron picked up his fifth goal of the season.

Each team put up nine shots in the second period, as the game would be knotted up at one entering the final period.
