Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

RAPID CITY, SD - The Rapid City Rush turned the tables on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs Saturday night, rebounding from Friday's loss to the Mudbugs and winning 5-2 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The Rush scored three second period goals to take control of the contest and win the third home game in the brief history of the franchise.

Brett Angel had a goal and an assist and Travis Clayton scored the Bugs' other goal that made it 4-2 early in the third period as the Bugs tried to mount a comeback. Chris Di Ubaldo and Derek LeBlanc each scored twice for Rapid City in the win. Bossier-Shreveport drops to 13-7-2 with the defeat.

The Mudbugs played well in the first, drawing penalties and getting four powerplays in the period. It was the Rush who would benefit though, as Chris Lipsett scored shorthanded with just two seconds left on the clock to make it a 1-0 Rapid City lead after one.

Chris Di Ubaldo single-handedly built the lead early in the second period, scoring two goals in a 45 second span to make it 3-0 for the Rush. Angel's goal got the Mudbugs going midway through the period when he drove the net off J.J. Martin's faceoff win and backhanded a shot past Miguel Beaudry to pull the Bugs back within two. Another late period goal for Rapid City gave them the three-goal cushion once again though. Derek LeBlanc's powerplay tally came with just 18 seconds left in the second period to put the Rush on top 4-1.

Bossier-Shreveport came out firing in the third period with a few great chances right off the bat. Clayton tipped in Dale Lupul's wrist shot from the point for his eighth powerplay goal of the season that pulled the Bugs back within two goals. Just two and a half minutes later though, Rapid City took the momentum back with LeBlanc's second of the night on the powerplay to provide the final 5-2 margin.

The Mudbugs finished 1 for 7 on the powerplay, while the Rush converted two of their three chances. Ryan Mior stopped 16 shots in defeat as the Bugs outshot Rapid City 24-21. Miguel Beaudry made 22 saves to earn the win in net.

The Mudbugs will now make their way home through the wintery weather to take on the Tulsa Oilers on Friday night at the CenturyTel Center. Friday's game will be the first of a home-and-home series with the Oilers that concludes Saturday at Tulsa's BOK Center. Come out to CenturyTel Center and wear all white on Friday to help the Mudbugs "White Out" the Oilers with the opening faceoff set for 7:05 pm. Individual tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster at 318-741-9700, while flex tickets and group ticket packages are available through the Mudbugs office at 318-752-BUGS.
