
Bucks Fall 3-2 In Odessa

Laredo Bucks News Release
ODESSA, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 3-2 Saturday night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Bucks fall to 16-6-1 (33pts), and fall three points behind the Jackalopes for first place in the Southern Conference. The Bucks went 0-1-1 on their brief two-game road trip, losing two one goal games. Odessa, who scored three power-play goals, has won 10 straight games.
Laredo trailed 2-0 entering the third period, but came to life just 2:05 into the third when Alex Goupil rifled a slap shot from the point to bring Laredo to with-in 2-1. The tally was Goupil's 13th on the season.
The Jackalopes got one right back to make it 3-1 four minutes later, as Jeff Pierce re-directed a shot from the point past Sebastien Centomo.
The Bucks (5-3-1 on the road) would pull to with-in 3-2 with 5:19 left in the third, when Ryan Hand scored his first professional goal off of a slap shot from the left point.
Laredo would then be forced to kill off a five-on-three power-play with a little over two-minutes left in the game. The Bucks would kill of the penalty, then pull Centomo for the final 45 seconds to try and get the equalizer.
The âJacks defense would stand strong, hanging on for the 3-2 win.
Centomo stopped 32 of 35 shots in the Bucks net.
The Bucks were outshot 35-24 on the night.
Odessa jumped out in front of the Bucks as they struck on the power-play with 4:49 left in the fist period. Dominic Leveille sent a back hander from the right side of the crease past Sebastien Centomo. The tally was the 10th this season for Leveille.
Laredo was in penalty trouble in the opening period, as they were in the box for 22 minutes, including taking two fighting majors and a double minor.
The Bucks killed off a full two minute five-on-three power-play for Odessa midway through the first.
The Jackalopes were given plenty of power-play's in the opening period, going one-for-six.
Laredo was outshot in the first 20 minutes 15-4.
Odessa would increase their lead to 2-0 as they cashed in with another power-play goal a the 12:19 mark of the second. Mike Ramsey crossed into the Bucks zone, and whipped a shot from the right circle past Centomo.
For the second straight period the Bucks were outshot, this time by a count of 14-6.
Laredo put up just 10 shots through the first two periods.
Laredo will return to the LEC next weekend, when they host Rio Grande Valley on December 19 for Posada Night, and Corpus Christi on Saturday for their Holiday Jersey Auction.
