Rush Net Four Unanswered En Route to 5-2 Win over Oilers

(Rapid City, SD) - At the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Tuesday night, the Rapid City Rush and the Tulsa Oilers met for the final time in the 2012-13 season. Despite trailing midway through, the Rush were able to rattle off four straight goals for a 5-2 victory over the Oilers. The Rush are back in action this Friday and Saturday, as they go head-to-head against the Denver Cutthroats for the final two games of the regular season. The Oilers were able to catch the Rush defense scrambling 5:18 into the first period as Gordon Bell potted the opening goal for Tulsa to take the early lead. The Rush tied the game at one goal apiece by the first intermission as Rusty Masters deflected a shot in at 16:08, extending his goal streak to six games, tied for the longest in the CHL this season.

Tulsa would reclaim the lead just 2:28 into the second period as Drew Akins was able to cash in on a penalty shot. Team captain Scott Wray responded at 12:44 with a power play blast from the right circle for his team-leading 23rd goal of the season. With only 10 seconds remaining in the second period Jared Brown gave the Rush their first lead of the night off a 2-on-1 chance with Jesse Schultz, who would be credited with his 25th assist of the season. With the assist, Schultz extended his point streak to twelve games, the longest of the year for Rapid City.

Only 56 seconds into the third period, Schultz doubled the lead for the Rush on a power play goal for his 17th of the season. Winston Day Chief would keep the momentum rolling for the Rush deflecting in a power play goal of his own at 11:40, sealing the 5-2 victory.
