Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush and the Bloomington Blaze met for the final time this regular season. With a season high combined 10 goals and multiple lead changes, the Rush offense rallied with four goals in the third, highlighted by three in a 1:14 span, en route to a 6-4 victory. The team has now won five of their last six, including four straight, the longest active streak in the CHL. The Rush are back in action Tuesday, February 26th, as they take on the Quad City Mallards and tickets are available at gotmine.com or by calling 716-7825.
Jared Brown looked to set the tone early for the Rush skating in from the right circle capitalizing off a backhanded shot, notching his 13th goal of the season 6:03 into the game.
The Blaze came alive in the second frame, scoring three goals with the first coming on the powerplay by Kyle Bochek 8:31 into the frame. Dan Gendur would capitalize on a powerplay as well, redirecting a shot from Scott Wray and reclaiming the one goal advantage for the Rush. However, the lead would be brief as the Blaze would tack on two more goals by Nello Ferrara at 16:51 and Brett Lutz at 18:14 giving the Blaze their first lead of the night, and a 3-2 advantage heading into the final stanza.
The start of the final period was one for the books for the Rush, as the team scored three goal in a 1:14 span, the second fasted time in franchise history. Just 2:18 into the third period, Jarrett Konkle brought the sellout crowd to their feet blasting home his team leading 20th goal of the season. Jesse Schultz would keep it rolling reclaiming the lead just 48 seconds later with his first of the night. One minute and two seconds later, Winston Day Chief would jump on the scoring train notching his 6th goal of the year and extending the Rush lead to 5-3. Jon Booras cut into the Rush advantage for the Blaze at 7:37, but a late goal by Jesse Schultz solidified the 6-4 victory.
