ALLEN, Texas (February 24) - The Brahmas (31-17-6) were defeated by the Allen Americans by the score of 4-0 at the Allen Event Center Sunday afternoon, snapping the team's seven-game win streak on the road.
Allen took an early 1-0 lead at 10:21 of the first period when Jason Deitsch flipped a wrister past Brahmas netminder Kristofer Westblom. For Deitsch, the score was his second in 12 games versus Fort Worth this season. With under a minute to play in the opening frame, Anthony Maiani put home a rebound to give Allen a 2-0 edge after 20 minutes of play.
At 16:09 of the second period, the Americans extended their lead to 3-0 when Jamie Schaafsma recovered a puck behind the Brahmas net and fed Chris Doyle in front for an easy score. Brad Fogal replaced Westblom in net after Doyle's first goal of the season.
Trevor Ludwig added Allen's fourth score at 0:52 of the third period.
Westblom made 13 saves on 16 shots in 36:06 before being replaced in net by Fogal. For Westblom, it was only his sixth loss sin regulation this season. In relief, Fogal stopped 10 of the 11 shots he faced.
Aaron Dell stopped all 26 he faced between the posts for the Americans, earning his 15th win and second shutout of the season.
With the loss, the Brahmas' seven-game win streak away from home comes to an end. Fort Worth falls to three points behind Allen for first place in the CHL.
The Brahmas and Americans meet for the third time in four days Tuesday, February 26 at the Allen Event Center. Fort Worth is 6-6-1 versus Allen this season.
The team is back in action at the NYTEX Sports Centre Wednesday, March 6 when they face off against the Wichita Thunder at 7:30pm on Beer League Night. The Brahmas will wear specialty jerseys which will be autographed and auctioned off immediately following the game.
