Sundogs Get Big Win over Oilers

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs got a big win over the Tulsa Oilers, Saturday night at Tim's Toyota Center in front of 2,872 fans, final score 3-1.

Johan Ryd put the Sundogs on the scoreboard first with 25 seconds left in the opening frame. Ron Meyers and Matt McCready were each credited with the assists. Arizona had an early chance for a goal when Chad Nehring was awarded a penalty shot 2:24 into the period but couldn't find the net.

Sundogs' defenseman Kirill Tulupov scored a power play goal, his first goal of the season 1:47 into the third period and Jason Morgan was given the assist. Tulsa's Jeff Buvinow registered a shorthanded goal with 32 seconds left in the third period after Ryan Barlock was called for slashing. Ryd collected his second goal of the game on an empty net with one second left in the final period, pushing the Sundogs to a two goal lead.

Adam Russo took the win for the Sundogs making 29 saves. Arizona outshot Tulsa 31-30. Arizona was 2-4 on the power play and Tulsa was 0-4. Arizona concludes their two game set against the Oilers on Tuesday at 6:05pm. Tuesday's game will mark the Sundogs' Captain, Jason Morgan's 1,000th professional career game.
