
Rush Announce Final Roster For 2009-10

(Rapid City, SD) - Late Thursday, the Rapid City Rush announced the final roster for the 2009-10 season. After a competitive week of training camp and two impressive preseason games against Amarillo, Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras and Assistant Coach Mark DeSantis have met the league requirement and trimmed the roster to 19 active players. The Rush kick-off their 2009-10 campaig on Friday, October 16th, against the Missouri Mavericks at 7:05pm.
"After a very competitive camp, there are always difficult decisions that have to be made," said Ferras. "We have several talented hockey players and a great group of character guys on the team. I know that there are a number of players in our lineup that our fans will love. We have set high expectations for our hockey club and now we need to take that preparation and put it to action."
Forwards named to the roster are Brendon Hodge, Will Bodine, Rich Hansen, Jon Pelle, Scott Wray, Brendan Cook, Les Reaney, Devon LeBlanc, Blaine Jarvis, Colt King and Derek Campbell. On the back end are Clay Plume, Tim Branham, Luke Fritshaw, Jim Henkemeyer, Joe Dustin and Jamie VanderVeeken. The two netminders for the Rush are Danny Battochio and Miguel Beaudry.
Defenseman Gio Flamminio will start the 2009-10 campaign on the 30-day IR with an upper body injury.
Among the moves made was a trade including goaltender Mike Brown and defenseman Jake Obermeyer to Amarillo for future considerations. The players waived were Ryan Senft, Jason Hill, R.G. Flath, Marek Chvatal and Eric Nelson.
The Rapid City Rush opens the season against the expansion Missouri Mavericks this Friday, October 16th, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:05pm while tickets for the contest are still available and start at only $15.
