
Chl Opens 2009-10 Season On Friday Night

(Tempe, Arizona) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) will begin its 18th season on Friday, October 16th with seven games on the schedule including a Ray Miron President's Cup Finals re-match between the defending champion Texas Brahmas and the Colorado Eagles. The Brahmas won the Cup last May four games to one over the Eagles.
Other highlights on the opening night schedule feature a 2004, 2006 President's Cup re-match with the Laredo Bucks taking on the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. The Bucks won both the 04 and 06 Cups by defeating the 'Bugs in the Finals.
The CHL's two expansion clubs get underway on Friday with the Missouri Mavericks facing the Rapid City Rush and the Allen Americans taking on the Arizona Sundogs. Both Missouri and Allen will begin the year on road trips awaiting completion of their new buildings. Allen is set to open at home on November 7th and Missouri's home opener is scheduled for November 13th.
The other three games scheduled for opening night are the Amarillo Gorillas at the Wichita Thunder, the Tulsa Oilers at the Mississippi RiverKings and the Corpus Christi IceRays at the Odessa Jackalopes. The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees are the lone CHL team to not be in action on Friday, they will open at home on Saturday versus the Laredo Bucks.
