Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs News Release

BOSSIER CITY, LA - Tomorrow night at the CenturyTel Center, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs will open the 2009-2010 Central Hockey League season, hosting the rival Laredo Bucks at 7:05 pm, presented by The Shreveport Times. Tomorrow's game marks the start of the 13th season of competition for the Mudbugs and will celebrate one of the greatest rivalries in the CHL.

To start our opening night festivities, the Mudbugs will be giving away "Heart & Hustle" t-shirts to the first 1,000 fans in the building. There will also be family-friendly entertainment activities at the arena leading up to the game, including a slapshot radar gun, face painting, balloon animals, and bounce houses outside.

The puck drops on a brand-new season of Mudbugs hockey at 7:05 pm with two perennial rivals and CHL powerhouses on the ice. Bossier-Shreveport and Laredo have long been among the league's top teams and have played a number of memorable games between them over the years.

The 'Bugs and Bucks met in the President's Cup Finals in 2004 and again in 2006, with Laredo prevailing both times. In regular season play however, the Mudbugs have posted an impressive all-time mark of 15-5-1 against their Southern Conference rivals. The 'Bugs have won seven of the 12 prior home openers in their franchise history.
