
RubberDucks Lose Finale in Harrisburg, 8-3

The Harrisburg Senators built a 7-0 lead in the first three innings to defeat the Akron RubberDucks, 8-3, on Sunday afternoon and take five of six games in the series at FNB Field.
Turning Point
Against Akron left-hander Doug Nikhazy in the first inning, Senators left fielder Jacob Young grounded a leadoff double down the third-base line, center fielder Robert Hassell III hit an RBI single, third baseman Trey Lipscomb singled, and designated hitter James Wood hit a three-run home run to right field to make it 4-0.
Mound Presence
Nikhazy departed after two more walks and a strikeout in the first inning. Left-hander Matt Turner finished the inning and worked a scoreless second inning. He yielded three runs - one earned - on two hits and a walk in the third inning that made it 7-0. Right-hander Trey Benton pitched two scoreless innings around one hit with four strikeouts, and left-hander Erik Sabrowski worked around a leadoff hit to strike out the side in the sixth. Right-hander Tanner Burns allowed a seventh-inning run on second baseman JT Arruda's RBI double. Right-handers Jordan Jones (1/3) and Davis Sharpe (2/3) combined for a scoreless eighth inning.
Duck Tales
Held scoreless through the first seven innings by left-hander Mitchell Parker (five) and right-handers Patrick Ruotolo (one) and Malvin Pena (one), Akron scored in the eighth off right-hander Odalvi Javier. Designated hitter Connor Kokx was hit by a pitch with one out, and shortstop Juan Brito hit a two-out RBI double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on center fielder Korey Holland's infield RBI single. In the ninth against left-hander Garvin Alston, third baseman Gabriel Rodríguez walked, advanced to second on a groundout and scored on Kokx's two-out RBI single.
Notebook
Kokx finished the series 8-for-19 with four RBIs, while Brito finished 6-for-24 with five RBIs...The RubberDucks lost five games in a series for the first time since the league adopted a six-game series format for the 2021 season...Akron is two games behind Harrisburg, Bowie and Richmond (21-18) in the Southwest Division second-half playoff race...Akron split the season series with Harrisburg, 9-9...Game Time: 2:53...Attendance: 3,625.
