SEA DOGS SUFFER SATURDAY NIGHT LOSS Despite scoring first, the Sea Dogs fell to the Hartford Yard Goats, 5-1 on Saturday night. Portland struck first in the bottom of the fourth to take the 1-0 lead. Bonaci reached with his first double of Double-A before an RBI double from Nick Yorke (16) brought home Bonaci to score. Hartford responded with two runs in the top of the fifth after a fielding error scored Grant Lavigne along with an RBI single from Warming Bernable to put the Yard Goats on top 2-1. Kyle Datres hit an RBI single in the top of the seventh to extend the 3-1 Hartford lead. Two more runs scored for Hartford in the top of the eighth after Niko Decolati grounded into a force out to score Lavigne before an RBI single from Jose Cordova made it 5-1 Yard Goats.

NICK NEVER STOPS Nick Yorke extended a six-game hit streak with a double in the bottom of the fourth inning last night. The hitting streak dates back to August 4th in Bowie. Across those five games, Yorke has collected eight hits including two doubles and a home run. Yorke currently leads the team in runs (58), hits (94), RBI (46), and ties Corey Rosier with the most triples (5).

MOMENTUM IN MAINE Brainer Bonaci has recorded a hit in every game since his promotion to Double-A on Tuesday. Throughout his four-game hit streak, Bonaci has collected five hits including a double and a home run. In Double-A so far, Bonaci is sporting a .313 batting average along with a .421 OBP after going 5-16 with three walks. He has only struck out three times.

TOP DOGSThe Sea Dogs currently have the most doubles across the Eastern League with 191 collectively and rank third across all of Double-A, just behind Amarillo (200) and Midland (194). The Sea Dogs also have the second most stolen bases across Double-A with 185 while Somerset ranks first with 195. Corey Rosier is tied with Steward Berroa (NH) for the most stolen bags in the Eastern League with 41 while Phillip Sikes ties for third most with Jasson Dominguez (SOM) at 36 a piece.

NEXT UP Following today's game, the Sea Dogs will travel to Binghamton, New York to face the Rumble Ponies for a six-game series at Mirabito Stadium. The Rumble Ponies are currently in second place of the Northeast Division, 0.5 game ahead of the Sea Dogs. Binghamton has benefited from trade deadline moves, adding middle infielder Luisangel Acuna and outfielder Drew Gilbert, now the top two prospects in the Mets system.

THIS DATE IN SEA DOGS HISTORY August 13, 2008 - Kris Johnson (8-7), T. J. Large and Daniel Bard combined for 16 strikeouts and Portland beat Altoona 5-3. Johnson worked 5.2 IP on seven hits, two runs (one earned) and eight strikeouts. Bard fanned all four batters faced to earn his 4th save and hit 100 mph on the Hadlock Field radar gun in the ninth inning.

PITCHING PREVIEW RHP Wikelman Gonzalez takes the mound for the Sea Dogs today. The right-hander pitched against the Yard Goats on Tuesday and tossed 4.0 innings allowing one run on two hits while walking five and striking out eight. He did not receive a decision. It was his shortest outing of the season with Portland.
