The Somerset Patriots defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies by a score of 8-0 on Sunday afternoon at TD Bank Ballpark in the six-game Double-A Subway Series finale.

Somerset's last five wins have all come in shutout form, all coming over the Patriots last nine games.

Sunday marked the Patriots 12th shutout victory of the season.

Despite splitting the series with Binghamton, Somerset outscored the Rumble Ponies 40-17 over the six-game set.

Over the last five games of the series, Somerset's bullpen posted a 0.58 ERA, allowing only 1 R in 15.1 IP.

RHP Blane Abeyta (6 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 7 K, 0 BB) earned his 7th win of the season in his second shutout outing of the year. Abeyta's seven wins rank 4th in the Eastern League, while his 103 K rank 10th. Sunday marked Abeyta's ninth quality start over 18 starts this season. Over four starts vs. Binghamton this season, Abeyta posted a 3.24 ERA with 10 K in 13.2 IP. Abeyta has now struck out 7+ in eight of his 18 starts this season.

C Ben Rice (2-for-3, BB) registered his ninth multi-hit game in 20 games with Somerset this season. Rice concluded the six-game series vs. Binghamton 12-for-23 (.521) with 2 HR, 9 RBI, and 7 R.

RF Aaron Palensky (2-for-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB, 3 R, 2B) put Somerset on the board with a two-run homer in the 4th, later adding to the Patriots lead with an RBI double in the 8th to make it 6-0. Sunday marked Palensky's seventh multi-hit game with Somerset this season and fourth multi- RBI performance. The two-run blast was Palensky's sixth with Somerset this season and 18th overall between High-A and Double-A. Over his last two games, Palensky is 4-for-5 with a homer, 4 RBI, 5 R, and 2 BB.

SS Max Burt (1-for-4, HR) launched a two-run blast in the 6th inning, marking his 10th homer of the season.
