Akron RubberDucks News Release
(AKRON, OHIO) May 15, 2014 -The Akron RubberDucks will be hosting a VIP meet-and-greet with DEVO's Bob Mothersbaugh to benefit the family of the late Bob Casale at the newly-constructed Fowl Territory in Canal Park during the May 24 game vs. Reading Fightin' Phils at 6:35 p.m.
Tickets are $35, and include entrance to the game, a 90-minute all-you-can-eat picnic buffet starting at 5:30 p.m., and the opportunity for autographs, photos, and to talk with Bob Mothersbaugh. They can be purchased by contacting the RubberDucks main office number, 330-253-5151.
"I think all of us have been eagerly looking forward to the DEVO Rock "Ën Bobble giveaway on May 24, but with Bob Mothersbaugh now making a VIP appearance too, it may be one of the season's most exciting nights," said RubberDucks General Manager Jim Pfander.
The DEVO Meet-and-Greet will have a silent auction including items from DEVO and the RubberDucks, and an online auction by the Rubber City Radio Group (97.5 WONE, 1590 WAKR, 94.9 WQMX). The headlining item is a limited-edition t-shirt autographed by both the artist, and DEVO band member Mark Mothersbaugh, who designed the shirt. Mark has signed the shirt as "Booji Boy," a rare autograph to collect from the musician. The online auction will be held at WONE's website, http://www.WONE.net.
At the conclusion of the VIP meet-and-greet, Bob Mothersbaugh will be signing autographs for general ticketholders throughout the game.
"We are honored to help DEVO raise money for Bob Casale's family. Rubber City Radio Group is a tremendous partner, and we hope the online auction with the rare autographed t-shirt is a huge success," said Pfander.
The first 1,000 fans through the gates for the May 24 game will receive a DEVO bobblehead, the first RubberDucks' Rock "Ën Bobble giveaway series this season. The other Rock "Ën Bobbles are Joe Walsh (June 14 vs. Portland, 7:05 p.m.); Chrissie Hynde (June 28 vs. Harrisburg, 7:05 p.m.); and The Black Keys (July 5 vs. Bowie, 7:05 p.m.).
The Akron RubberDucks are the Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians. The 2014 season is its 18th since moving to Canal Park and its first as the newly renamed RubberDucks.
