Kamloops, BC - The Victoria Royals tallied two goals in each of the second and third periods to overcome a 1-0 first period deficit to defeat the BC Division leading Kamloops Blazers 4-1 on Monday night. Tarun Fizer led the way offensively with two goals and an assist, while goaltender Shane Farkas stopped 31 of 32 shots for the visitors.

Penalty Kill Success: The Royals have been stifling on the penalty kill since returning from the holiday break. Victoria has killed off all 12 opponent powerplays in their three post-Christmas contests.

2019 Recap: Tonight's win was the Royals final game of 2019. Victoria concluded the calendar year with a regular season record of 34-29-3-2. The team was led offensively by forward Kaid Oliver, who tallied 44 points (19g-25a) in 49 games for the year.

Gary's Got His Groove Back: Overage forward, Gary Haden, has collected at least a point in 11 of his last 13 games. During that span he has 10 goals and eight assists for 18 points, which is good for 1.38 points per game (PPG). In Haden's first 18 games of the season he collected 10 points (4g-6a) for a 0.56 PPG.

Hot Streak: Royals' forwards Kaid Oliver and Tarun Fizer are each on multi-game point scoring streaks. Oliver has recorded eight points (4g-4a) in his past five contests, while Fizer has tallied two goals and four assists in three straight games.

Road Tripping: Victoria will continue their five-game BC Division road trip on Wednesday afternoon in Langley, BC versus the Vancouver Giants. Puck drop is at 2:00 p.m.

Returning Home: The Royals return to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on January 10th to kick off a four-game homestand. Victoria will host the CHL's seventh ranked team in the Portland Winterhawks on Friday, January 10th and Saturday, January 11th. The Tri-City Americans then come to town for a pair of games on Tuesday, January 14th and Wednesday, January 15th.
