Royals Sign Larry Courville
December 29, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that the team has signed forward Larry Courville. It is anticipated that Courville and forward Chris Bala, who was added to the team's roster last week, will join the Royals for tonight's game against the Trenton Devils. In separate transactions, the Monarchs recalled defenseman Patrik Hersley, and the Royals placed Patrick Jarrett on the seven-day injured reserve.
Both Bala and Courville are veteran players who have served part-time duties with the Royals this year. Bala has played three games this season without registering a point, while Courville has played in two. Hersley was assigned to the Royals from Manchester on November 15 and played in sixteen games for Reading, scoring three goals and assisting on twelve others. Fourteen of Hersley's fifteen points came in his last eleven games for Reading. Those points included a dramatic game tying goal with 36.8 seconds remaining last Saturday (December 22) against the Dayton Bombers and an overtime game winner against the Elmira Jackals this past Wednesday. Jarrett, who started the season with Reading and played fourteen games with the Royals before being recalled to Manchester on November 16, was re-assigned to Reading on Thursday. He was injured in his first game back with the team last night.
The Royals return to action tonight (December 29, 2007) (7:05 pm) when the organization will 'turn back the clock' to 1988 and the team will wear 'Gretzky-era' Los Angeles Kings throwback uniforms. The special jerseys worn tonight will be raffled off throughout the remainder of the season. The first 1500 fans at tonight's game will receive a slinky courtesy of Commerce Bank. The game night broadcast on Friday will begin with the pre-game warm-up show at 6:35 pm on ESPN Radio in Ephrata. Streaming video is available on a pay per view basis through the B2 Networks.
