Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
OMAHA - The Kansas City Royals announced Saturday that outfielder Jarrod Dyson has joined the Storm Chasers as part of a Major League Rehab Assignment. Dyson is expected to be in Omaha's starting lineup beginning with this afternoon's contest at Werner Park as he recovers from a strained oblique.
Dyson is no stranger to Omaha, having played in a total of 159 games with the club between 2010-13. Over that period, Dyson accumulated a .272 average (171-629), adding 122 runs, 25 doubles, seven triples, four homers, 51 RBI and 63 steals.
The 31-year-old played on two championship teams in Omaha, with the 2011 roster going on to win the Pacific Coast League Championship, while the 2013 squad won the first of Omaha's Back-to-Back Triple-A National Championships. He was also one of 14 former Storm Chasers players on the Kansas City Royals' 2015 World Series Championship roster.
Since making his Major League debut on September 7, 2010, the Mississippi native has combined for a .255 average (99-390) along with 60 runs, 12 doubles, eight triples, two homers and 28 RBI over 162 Big League contests with the Royals. Dyson has also recorded 53 steals in that time period, having only been caught stealing on eight occasions.
As a result of the roster move, Omaha's roster now stands at 25 active players, in addition to Dyson on his Major League Rehab Assignment, as well as three players on the Disabled List.
Dyson's is in the starting lineup for this afternoon's contest at Werner Park as the Storm Chasers face off against the New Orleans Zephyrs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins. The first 1,500 fans will receive a Storm Chasers Magnet Schedule, while the fan favorite Omaha Street Percussion will perform both before and during the contest as part of the first Saturday Spectacular of the year. First pitch is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. at Werner Park.
Tickets for that contest and all remaining Storm Chasers games are still available and can be purchased online at www.omahastormchasers.com/tickets, or by calling the Werner Park Ticket Office at (402) 738-5100.
