Salt Lake Bees News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Three Salt Lake pitchers combined for a four-hit shutout as the Bees blanked the Sacramento River Cats 6-0 in front of 10,451 at Smith's Ballpark Saturday night. Zach Nuding (1-0) received the win in his Bees debut, pitching five innings, giving up three hits and no runs. Relievers Chris O'Grady and Cody Satterwhite combined for four innings of one-hit relief, while striking out five to finish the game.

"(Nuding) did a great job, I loved his tempo," said Manager Keith Johnson. "He was committing to the pitches he was throwing and made them swing the bat. That is what you want your pitchers to do."

The Bees (3-0) got an early head start from Rafael Ortega, who tripled in his first two at-bats and ended the evening with two RBIs. Todd Cunningham matched Ortega with two RBIs, bringing in Ortega in the first and second inning to put the Bees up 4-0. In the fourth inning Kyle Kubitza added an RBI single and Jefry Marte scored on a wild pitch to put the Bees up 6-0 for good. Catcher Juan Graterol led the Bees with three hits in his first start of the season. The Bees have won their first three games of the season for the first time since 2013. The two teams will finish the four-game series tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. MT. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
