Cowart's 4 RBI Night Gives Bees Second Victory

April 9, 2016 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Salt Lake Bees News Release

Kaleb Cowart knocked in four runs, setting the tone for a 6-4 Bees victory over Sacramento in front of 9,311 fans at Smith's Ballpark on Friday night. Cowart finished the night 3-for-4, driving in four runs for the first time since bringing home five on April 3, 2014 with Double-A Arkansas. Not to be outdone, Todd Cunningham reached base in all four at-bats coming home to score off a Cowart single three times.

"It was a good game. Anytime you can get three hits it's a good game," said Cowart. "It's always fun when you drive somebody in. You've got to tip your hat to those guys for getting on base because if they weren't on base you wouldn't get any RBIs."

Yunesky Maya (1-0) picked up his first win of the season on the mound tonight, scattering eight hits in 5.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs. Making their first relief appearances of the season, Al Alburquerque, Neil Cotts, Lucas Luetge and Ramon Ramirez combined for 3.1 innings out of the Bees bullpen giving up three hits and one run while striking out four. Alburquerque recorded his first Triple-A save since June 15, 2013 with a scoreless ninth.

The Bees remain home until Thursday, April 14 with two more games against Sacramento, followed by a four-game set against the Fresno Grizzlies. All Bees games home or away can be heard on 1280 The Zone with Steve Klauke calling the action.
