ROYALS JAZZ THEMED JERSEY AUCTION RAISES $14,230

Reading, PA – After the March 19, 2002 Reading Royals vs. Cincinnati Cyclones game, the Reading Eagle Company, the Reading Royals and the Berks Arts Council hosted a specialty jersey auction to celebrate the GPU Berks Jazz Fest. The Royals' first live auction at the Lincoln Plaza Hotel raised a total of $14,230 to support the Berks Arts Council. Auctioneer Keith Fritz, Manager of the Reading Eagle Press, also auctioned off Philadelphia Flyers sports memorabilia for approximately $1,200 of the total raised.

The Berks Arts Council is the premier arts organization in Berks County, Pennsylvania. Their mission is to encourage and promote all of the arts, to develop an appreciation of the arts, and to enrich and enhance the quality of life in Berks County. Formally organized as a non-profit organization in 1971, the Berks Arts Council's offices are in the Pagoda, Reading's chief landmark and tourist attraction.
