Cincinnati, OH â The Cincinnati Cyclones hammered the Greensboro Generals 5-0 on Friday night to take over sole possession of fourth place in the ECHL's Northwest Division standings.
Wheeling dropped a 4-1 decision to Atlantic City enabling the Cyclones to move past them into the final playoff spot.
The game was decided quickly as Cincinnati raced to three first period goals. Kris Cantu finished the night with three points (1g, 2a), Nick Bootland picked up his team-leading 22nd goal of the season, Don Biggs had two assists and goaltender Alex Westlund posted his fifth shutout of the season with 28 saves.
Cincinnati hosts the Dayton Bombers on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The game can be heard via tape-delay on 1360 Homer, The Sports Animal and live over the Internet at www.cycloneshockey.com.
