
Royals Host Rockets this Weekend; Marty's Birthday on Saturday

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals will host the league leading Kelowna Rockets on Friday and Saturday night at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Saturday's game is Marty the Marmot's 10th birthday. Both contests are scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
HEAVYWEIGHT TILT: This weekend's match-up will feature the top two teams in the Western Hockey League. The Royals (16-7-1-1) sit in second in the league with 34 points, while the Kelowna Rockets (17-5-1-0) currently occupy first spot in the WHL with 35 points. Victoria has allowed the second fewest goals so far this season with 58 over 25 games. Kelowna meanwhile boasts the highest scoring offence in the WHL with 95 goals scored this season. The Royals own the top penalty kill unit in the league with an 82/96....4% success rate, while the Rockets occupy the second best powerplay at 25/95=26.3%.
LEADING THE WAY: Over the last 10 games the Royals have been paced by a high-scoring foursome of Alex Forsberg, Matthew Phillips, Joe Hicketts and Dante Hannoun who have combined for 54 points (20g-34a). Forsberg leads the group with 16 points (3g-13a) during that span, while Phillips is close behind with 14 points (9g-5a). Hicketts has recorded the most points by a Royals defenceman over the last 10 contests with 13 assists. Hannnoun, Victoria's leading goal scorer with 14, rounds out the quartet with 11 points (8g-3a) in November.
FRIDAY
Black Friday will be celebrated at the Royals Team Store during the game on Friday night when they extend a special offer of 30% off black third jerseys in both youth and adult sizes.
Pre-Game:
- Goose Island Brewery will be providing limited quantities of free beer samples to legal age drinkers at four stations located around the arena concourse, some conditions apply. There will also be samples of Pepsi on hand for non-beer drinkers and those under the age of 19. Samples will only be available until the end of the first period.
- The Investors Group Victoria has partnered with The Mustard Seed and is encouraging fans to bring their non-perishable food donation to receive a discount of up to 35% off your next home game ticket.
- BC Tree Fruits will be in the concourse offering free samples of BC-grown Ambrosia apples. Fans completing the BC Tree Fruits survey at their concourse display will be entered into a draw for a chance to win an iPad Air from BC Tree Fruits.

- An autographed game worn Joe Hicketts Team Canada jersey from the 2015 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships will be available by auction in the concourse during the game. This is a sealed bid jersey auction, ending December 13th with proceeds going to the Victoria Royals Education and Scholarship Fund.
- A selection of Royals' vintage game worn jersey's from Turn Back the Clock Night will available via auction by donation to the Victoria Royals Education & Scholarship Fund via silent auction during the game.

Pre-Game:
- Come celebrate Marty the Marmot's 10th birthday. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to sign his birthday card before the game, and enjoy a slice of cake after the contest. Marty will be joined for the event by his mascot friends including: Ace (Saanich PD), Slider (Panarama Recreation), Rocky (Victoria Shamrocks), Sally Ann (Salvation Army), Crunchy (Active Communities), Bauer (Saanich Minor Hockey) and Terry the Trader (Sports Traders).
- Ocean 98.5 will be giving away a LG G4 Smartphone in the concourse before the game.
