Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals scored two markers in each of the first two periods to defeat the Spokane Chiefs 4-1 in the final contest of their six-game homestand.

The Royals' Tyler Soy scored the game's first two goals in the opening period for a lead that the team would never relinquish. Victoria's Ethan Price capitalized on the powerplay, when he tallied his first marker as a Royal. Dante Hannoun would round out the scoring for the homeside. The Chiefs' Keanu Yamamoto notched the only tally for Spokane.

Victoria's netminder Coleman Vollrath turned aside 27 of 28 shots as he set the record for most wins by a Royals' goalie with 57, to pass former Victoria Royal Patrik Polivka. Chiefs' goaltender Garret Hughson stopped 27 of 31 shots he faced.

On the extra man advantage, the Royals went 1/2 = 50.0%, while the Chiefs were unable to capitalize on any of their five powerplay opportunities.

Victoria wrapped up their 5-1-0-0 homestand record and will now head to Kelowna on Friday night to take on the defending Western Hockey League Champions, the Rockets at 7:05 p.m. The Royals will wrap up their two-game road trip on Saturday, October 10th vs. the Kamloops Blazers with puck drop scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
