Vancouver Giants News Release

Moose Jaw, SK - The Vancouver Giants lost their second game in as many nights, falling 8-5 to the Moose Jaw Warriors at Mosaic Place on Wednesday evening. Radovan Bondra, Jackson Houck, Matt Barberis, Taylor Crunk and Clayton Kirichenko scored in the losing cause. The Giants are now 3-2-0-1 on the season.

The Giants and Warriors traded goals back and forth early in the first period. Tanner Faith opened the scoring for Moose Jaw, but Bondra equalized for Vancouver with his third of the season less than a minute later. The Warriors quickly re-established the lead through Nikita Popugaev's first WHL goal, but the G-Men tied it once again when Houck found the net on a man advantage. The Moose Jaw club took the lead to the dressing room after one, though, as Brayden Point scored his second of the year to make it 3-2.

Vancouver bagged three unanswered goals in the second period to take a 5-3 lead. Barberis scored his second in as many games on a man advantage before Crunk tallied his second of the season, and Kirichenko scored on a power play as well.

The Warriors scored five goals in the third period to storm back and win the game. Point had two markers to complete the hat-trick while Popugaev, Tanner Jeannot and Jiri Smejkal also scored for Moose Jaw.

The Giants went a perfect 3-for-3 on the power play and didn't take any penalties in the game.

Payton Lee stopped 29 of 36 shots in the Vancouver crease.

The Giants will be back in action on Friday when they visit the Regina Pats. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00pm.

The Giants' next home game is on Friday, October 16th when the Tri-City Americans visit the Pacific Coliseum. For tickets, visit TicketLeader.ca or call 604-4-GIANTS.
