Raiders Launch Cancer Awareness Campaign

October 8, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Prince Albert, SK - The Prince Albert Raiders, in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society (CSS), announced Thursday the launch of a three-week cancer awareness campaign, culminating with the Raiders' Pink in the Rink game on Saturday, October 23.

Headlining the Raiders' awareness campaign will be the team's October 23 contest against the Moose Jaw Warriors. During the Pink in the Rink game, the Raiders will wear pink-themed jerseys, sponsored by Canadian Tire. Featured on the sweaters are the names of those who are currently battling cancer, have beat the disease, or have lost their battle. The names were submitted by Raiders players, staff, and season ticket holders.

Jerseys will be available for purchase through online and game day auctions. Fans will have the option of either purchasing a jersey right away for $400, or placing a bid online here. Jerseys not bought prior to October 23 will become part of the silent auction in the lobby during the game. Five jerseys will also be held for a live auction in the Ches Leach Lounge post-game.

Tickets to the game are on sale now with one dollar being donated to the CSS for every walk-up ticket purchased between October 8-23. Group tickets are also available, with 10 tickets to the game being sold for $200 and $50 of it being donated to the CSS.

Money raised through the jersey auction and ticket sales will help fund research on all types of cancer and improve the lives of Canadians living with cancer by providing information and support services.

The Prince Albert Raiders are back in action on Saturday, October 10 as they take on the Seattle Thunderbirds in the first of six games in eight nights on the road. The team returns to the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, October 23, when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors. For ticket information, visit raiderhockey.com or call 764-GAME.
