Royals Designate Hideo Nomo For Assignment, Recall Luke Hochevar From Omaha

OAKLAND, CA (April 20, 2008) - The Kansas City Royals have recalled right-handed pitcher Luke Hochevar from Triple-A Omaha and designated right-handed pitcher Hideo Nomo for assignment. Hochevar will make the start today for the Royals in Oakland.

Nomo, 39, appeared in three games for the Royals, allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits in 4.1 innings. He issued four walks and struck out three, posting an 18.69 ERA.

With the move, the Royals now have 39 players on the 40-man roster.
