Struggling Sidewinders Fall to Fresno 10-2

Tucson, AZ - Tucson Sidewinders lost their 6th straight game to the Fresno Grizzles 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at Tucson Electric Park. The Sidewinders had 11 hits in the game but could only produce single run innings in the first and fourth.

The Grizzles took the early lead with a two-out single and double that brought in two runs in the first. Tucson cut it to one with a Jamie D'Antona double to right scoring Miguel Montero.

Fresno added two more runs to extend their lead. One run came in the second off a fielder's choice ground ball to first and the second run came in the third from a RBI single by Brian Horwitz.

Tucson's Emilio Bonafacio hits his fourth double of the season in the fourth inning and was brought in by a Donnie Kelly single, making the score 4-2. Jailen Peguero replaced reliever Emiliano Fruto in the 7th and gave up a 2-run homer to Eliezer Alfonzo.

Fresno put four more on the board in the 8th from back-to-back triples by Ivan Ochoa and Nate Schierholtz, which scored three of the runs. The other came off a Brett Harper line drive that scored Schierholtz.

The Sidewinders will face the Fresno Grizzles in the third game of a four game series starting at 6:30 PM on Monday night. LHP Evan MacLane (0-2, 4.50) is scheduled to start for Tucson. Left-hander Patrick Misch (2-0, 3.06) will start for the Grizzles. The game will air live on COOL 1450 beginning at 6:15 p.m.
