Reading Royals News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL encourage all of the team's full and partial Season Ticket Holders who are military veterans to participate in the activities planned for the Royals 'Veterans Day Weekend' this Saturday night (7:05 pm) and Sunday afternoon (4:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania, when the team will face the Trenton Titans in a pair of intra-divisional games.
As part of the intermission activities at the Royals games this weekend, the team will recognize all full and partial STHs who have served (or are currently serving) as a member of our country's military. The Royals ask that you simply e-mail the following information to General Manager Mark Wallace (mwallace@royalshockey.com): (i) your name; (ii) the location of your seat in the Sovereign Center; (iii) the military branch in which you served; (iv) the rank you attained; (v) the number of years you served; and (vi) any honors or medals you may have received.
The full and partial STH veteran intermission recognition will be part of a weekend filled with activities supporting US military veterans, which will include the Royals wearing special red, white and blue flag-inspired jerseys in both games this weekend. Those special jerseys will be auctioned after Sunday's game with the net proceeds from the auction going to benefit local veterans groups, as well as two local veterans who recently sustained war-related injuries.
The Royals will also host a clothing drive to assist local veterans at both games this weekend. Fans are encouraged to deliver lightly used clothing to the US Army Transport Vehicle that will be located outside the Sovereign Center on Saturday and Sunday. Also, Home Depot, in conjunction with 'Veterans Making a Difference,' will make pledges that will serve to assist local veterans with critical home repairs.
During the games this weekend, the Royals will honor World War II veterans, while the colors will be presented on Saturday night by the Reading High School Junior ROTC and on Sunday afternoon by the Wilson High School Junior ROTC. The 'Bell Tones' a women's singing trio will provide entertainment prior to the games this weekend, as well as during intermissions. On Saturday, the ceremonial first puck will be dropped by Brigadier General John Gronski; while the first puck on Sunday will be dropped by Major General Randall Marchi.
Fans in attendance will also receive a great giveaway for their support this weekend. On Saturday, the first 2,000 fans 15 years of age and older will receive a Royals camouflage jersey; while on Sunday, the first 1,000 fans 14 and younger will receive a youth version of the camouflage jersey-all courtesy of V&M Towing.
This Wednesday, the Royals travel to WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia, where the team will face the Wheeling Nailers. As with all Royals' road games this year, Wednesday's game will be televised locally in Berks County, Pennsylvania, on BCTV courtesy of Boscov's Travel and Apple Vacations. The game night broadcast will kick off at 6:35 pm on ESPN Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm. Royals Multi-Game Flex-Plans are available for the Royals 2012-13 season presented by Steve Moyer Subaru by calling the Royals' office (610-898-7825).
