Thunder Helps Give Away 10,000 Free Car Washes
November 5, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Stockton Thunder News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, a two time recipient of the ECHL "Award of Excellence," announced approximately 10,000 free car wash passes were distributed to fans in attendance at Stockton Arena for three Thunder home games against the Bakersfield Condors and Alaska Aces from Nov. 2-4.
The car wash passes were distributed through an in-game promotion, lasting all season at Thunder home games, titled "Clean Drive for 5" presented by Zoom Car Wash. The promotion rewards fans in attendance (ages 16 and older) with a free exterior car wash pass from Zoom Car Wash if the Thunder scores five goals or more in a single game.
The Thunder recorded a three game sweep by scoring a total of 18 goals during the weekend. The Thunder defeated Bakersfield 6-1 on Friday night, followed up with a 7-4 victory over Alaska on Saturday and closed the weekend with a 5-1 rout of the Aces on Sunday.
"For a variety of reasons this weekend was one of the more memorable weekends in our eight year history and to give away approximately 10,000 car washes made it even more fun for our fans," said Thunder president Dan Chapman. "Zoom Car Wash is a great partner of ours and we're happy to have them on board with a promotion that means the fans benefit when the team performs well. That truly is a win-win."
The Thunder had a season high crowd of 8,018 in attendance on Saturday at Stockton Arena and leads the Western Conference with a 7-1-1 record (15 points).
The Thunder has drawn over 1.5 million fans to Stockton Arena since 2005-06, its first season in the ECHL, and led the league in attendance from 2005-09.
