Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL and the Reading Eagle today jointly announced that they will unveil the Royals' Wall of Honor in the Sovereign Center concourse during the 2006-07 season. The permanent and historic display, which will be built on a wall in the primary walkway of the Sovereign Center, will be dedicated to honoring members of the Royals' organization who have made distinctive contributions to the success of the team. It is currently anticipated that there will be at least three persons inducted into the Royals' Wall of Honor this season with the inaugural ceremony occurring during the Royals' game against the Pensacola Ice Pilots on Sunday, October 22 (game time: 4:35 pm). It is expected that the complete list of this season's inductees will be included in the Royals' promotional schedule to be released in the near future.

"Our theme this season is 'Proud to Be A Royal,' and as we kick off our sixth season in Reading, we believe that it's important to recognize the persons who have made significant contributions to the success of our organization," Gordon Kaye, the general manager of the Royals stated. "Reading is a cornerstone market in the ECHL, and our success is the result of the extraordinary effort of a number of special people; and we want to create an impressive space within our building that serves to recognize these persons and provide our fans with a memorable glimpse into the history of our team. The Reading Eagle is the perfect partner for this display at the Sovereign Center because, as our local newspaper, the Eagle has quite naturally assumed the leadership role in chronicling the important historical events in our community."

"We're pleased to be a part of honoring those persons who have made important contributions to the success of the Royals' organization," said John Ernesto, the director of marketing and promotions at the Reading Eagle. "Our newspaper has served to chronicle the development of the team since its inception over six years ago, and we believe that the Royals have earned a place as a key member of the greater Reading community. We intend to treat the Wall of Honor with the level of respect it deserves and to make it special place, not only for the inductees themselves but also for Reading-area hockey fans-as well as other visitors to the Sovereign Center-to cherish and enjoy."

Reading Eagle is the major daily newspaper serving the greater Reading community and Berks County region with a daily circulation of over 64,000 and a Sunday circulation of over 100,000.
