Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH- Dayton Bombers Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam announced today the signing of center Kris Vernarsky. As per club policy terms and conditions of the deal were not disclosed.
"One of the dimensions we wanted to add to this team was experience and Kris definitely brings that," said MacAdam. "When I scouted him last year, I was very impressed with his play in all areas of the ice."
Vernarsky comes to Dayton after spending last season with the Motor City Mechanics of the United Hockey League. He appeared in 79 games (including four playoff games), recorded 31 points (10G, 21A) and accumulated 100 penalty minutes.
"I decided to sign with the Bombers because they have a great reputation for promoting players up to the next level," said Vernarsky. "Just like every other professional hockey player, I want to get back to the NHL and I feel like being in the Bombers organization gives me the best chance to do that. I am very excited about this upcoming season and I would like to thank head coach Don MacAdam for giving me the chance to play at a very competitive level again."
Prior to last season, the 6'3", 210-pound native of Detroit, Michigan, had spent time with the Florida Everblades of the ECHL, the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League and the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League.
Vernarsky was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft as the 51st overall pick. He has played in 17 career NHL games with the Boston Bruins, recording one goal and two penalty minutes.
