
Jacobsen Agrees To Terms

COLUMBIA, S.C. (August 24, 2006) - Head Coach Troy Mann announced that the Columbia Inferno have agreed to terms with center Grant Jacobsen for the 2006-07 season. Jacobsen joins teammates Jeff Miles, Derick Martin, Dallas Flaman, Anthony Battaglia, Andrew Lackner, Bryce Thoma, Steve McJannet, Brad MacMillan, Corey Hessler and Chris Barr as the 11th player signed by the Inferno this year.
The 6'3", 210 lbs., Neepawa, Manitoba native began his rookie season with the Reading Royals of the ECHL where he appeared in 59 games, scoring 13 goals and 28 assists for 41 points. Jacobsen was traded to the Inferno, along with teammate Chris Barr for Leon Hayward at the trade deadline in March. He contributed two goals and three assists in nine games for Columbia. He played one season with the University of Manitoba in 2004-05 scoring 29 points (14g-15a) in 31 games. He was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the ninth round, #270 overall.
"Grant is coming off a solid first professional year. He has the ability to be a successful asset at both ends of the ice, as well as his toughness in the faceoff circle," said Coach Mann. "We feel with his size and strength, Grant is a significant addition to our 06-07 team."
