
Rox Win Fourth Straight in Front of Packed Rock Pile

St. Cloud, MN - The 2017 Northwoods League Champions St. Cloud Rox finished out the 2018 regular season home schedule with a bang on Friday night.
The Rox offense went off for nine runs on 12 hits to take down the Thunder Bay Border Cats 9-7 in front of a large Rock Pile crowd. The win marks the fourth straight victory for St. Cloud.
The Rox kicked things off in the game by scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning to jump out to a three-run lead early on over the Border Cats. After falling behind 5-3 in the top of the sixth inning, St. Cloud answered back with six runs in the bottom half of the inning to retake the lead and not let up.
St. Cloud was led at the plate by Ryan Davis (Georgetown), who finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI. Michael Borst (Minot State) went 2-for-5 with two RBI, while Ryan Weisenberg (Georgetown) and Ricardo Sanchez (Arkansas at Pine Bluff) each had one hit, one run scored and two RBI and Sean Ross (San Diego State) went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
Evan Johnson (Creighton) got the start on the mound for the Rox, pitching six impressive innings on the hill. The 2018 Rox Co-MVP gave up just five hits, one run and struck out seven to earn a no-decision. Joey Stock (St. John's) pitched 0.1 innings, Carlo Graffeo (Minnesota State-Mankato) threw 2.2 innings and Finn Del Bonta-Smith (San Jose State) pitched the final inning in relief to finish things off for the Rox.
St. Cloud (20-14 second half, 36-34 overall) will hit the road for two games in Eau Claire to finish out the regular season. The Rox will face the Express at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, before taking on Eau Claire in the regular season finale at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday.
