Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - The Madison Mallards (19-14, 47-22) are back in action at the Duck Pond as they take on the Green Bay Bullfrogs (15-18, 27-42) tonight at 7:05 PM. The Mallards fell last night in Green Bay as the Bullfrogs walked-off in the bottom of the ninth inning. The Mallards have clinched their best record in team history and are preparing for their first playoff game next Monday at the Duck Pond. Madison will play on Monday in a must-win game before potentially playing again in round two again in Madison.

Probable Pitchers

The Mallards are scheduled to start Marietta righty Dalton Wiggins tonight at Warner Park. Wiggins is 4-4 this season with a 3.88 ERA through 44.0 innings on the mound. The NWL All-Star will look to provide a performance similar to his play at the beginning of the season, when he worked 24.0 innings without allowing an earned run.

Green Bay starter Luke VanLanen is scheduled to oppose Wiggins tonight in Madison. VanLanen has a 4.62 ERA through a pair of starts this summer. VanLanen will be looking for his second win and try to follow up a 6.2 inning outing against Lakeshore last week with another quality start.

Players to Watch

Utility man Tyler Plantier (Richmond) collected a pair of hits in last night's loss and has raised his average to .297. Plantier leads the team with 13 dingers this summer and has totaled 48 RBI, 12 doubles and 70 total hits. Plantier has been a force in the middle of the lineup, holding a .920

Outfielder Cam Cratic (Madison College) has continued to be an on-base machine, collecting a hit and a walk in last night's game. Cratic now has an OBP of .429 and has ten hits through 30 at bats. Cratic has also added 5 RBI through his eight games with the Mallards.
