Brockton Rox News Release

Brockton, MA (June 9, 2008) - Wednesday June 11th won't be an ordinary day of school for kids in the city of Brockton as they turn in their pencils and erasers for a morning of fun at the ballpark. Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders will fill the seats of Campanelli Stadium to enjoy a baseball game between the Rox and the Ottawa Rapidz at 10:30 a.m.

HarborOne Credit Union teams up again this year to present the fifth annual School Day. HarborOne takes care of the cost of tickets and purchases every seat in the stadium for the game. Leo McNeil, Senior Vice President of Marketing for HarborOne Credit Union, looks forward to this event every year. "It's very rewarding to see almost 5,000 kids enjoying themselves at the ballpark," says McNeil. "Seeing the kids come marching in with their school shirts and banners is really nice to see."

Superintendent of Brockton Public Schools Basan Nembirkow doesn't mind that the students will be missing class to enjoy the fresh spring air at the ballpark. "The School Day game is a reward for all of the hard work our students have done throughout the spring," says Nembirkow. "You can learn a lot from baseball - teamwork, math skills and statistics, and most importantly, how to have fun. Baseball is an introduction to Americana, a rich experience that every child should have. We thank HarborOne and the Rox for their support of and commitment to the Brockton Public Schools; they are real team players."

The Rox will also thank their season ticket holders with a complimentary picnic in the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center Picnic Pavilion in right field.

Wednesday's matinee will be the second game of a three-game series between the Rox and the Rapidz. The series concludes with Ed Nottle Bobblehead Night on Thursday, June 12th at 7:05 p.m.
