Rox Take Home Awards from FCBL

August 8, 2014 - Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL)
Brockton Rox News Release

The Brockton Rox received two awards from the Futures Collegiate Baseball League on Friday night before their final regular season game against the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide. Infielder Zack Short was awarded the Adam Keenan Sportsmanship and Scholarship Award and manager Bryan Stark was named the Manager of the Year.

The award given to Short was established in 2011 in memory and honor of Adam Keenan. Keenan was a player for the Seacoast Mavericks, who passed away tragically at the beginning of the season due to a rare, undiagnosed heart condition (Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy). This award is bestowed upon the player who exemplifies the outstanding attitude, character and sportsmanship that is synonymous with Adam Keenan's legacy.

"It is truly an honor, I didn't imagine receiving such an award," said Zack Short (Sacred Heart/Kingston, NY). "It means so much for the Keenan family to have selected me and the Rox coaches to have nominated me - honestly it just feels great to be a part of the history of this award." The Rox coaches and front office could not agree more with Short.

"The award is truly going to a well-deserving organization and team," said manager Bryan Stark. "My family being here for the presentation of the award showed the excellence of the organization."

The Rox would like to celebrate the accomplishments of Zack Short and Bryan Stark and thank the Keenan family for all that they have done for these two men and the Futures Collegiate Baseball League as a whole.

The Rox will continue their season into the FCBL playoffs on Saturday night at Campanelli Stadium. Tickets are on sale at the stadium ticket window, over the phone at (508) 559-7000 or by email at roxfun@brocktonrox.com.
