Bravehearts shut out Nashua to conclude regular season

NASHUA, N.H. - The Worcester Bravehearts will enter the postseason with some momentum, as six of their pitchers combined for a 3-0 shutout win against the Nashua Silver Knights on Aug. 8 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

Bravehearts pitcher Andrew Bergmann got the win in 2.1 innings pitched, improving his mark to 3-1 this season. Worcester's entire pitching staff surrendered only two hits combined, and recent St. John's High School graduate Steve D'Agostino gave up both hits in 3.1 innings of scoreless relief.

Third baseman Dylan Harris hit an RBI single in the first inning to score second baseman Darian Ramage and give the Bravehearts an early 1-0 lead.

Left fielder Jordan Berry went 3-3 at the plate with a run scored in the sixth inning. Hopedale, Mass., native Ian Strom knocked in Berry with an RBI single, and right fielder Nate Pajka scored on a sacrifice fly by shortstop Andy Lack. Pajka finished 2-4 on the night.

Nashua starter Shawn Heide gave up only one run on four hits in five innings pitched, but dropped to 2-4, as the Silver Knights could not muster up any run support. Nashua reliever John Hauck also struggled, as he was charged with both runs in the sixth inning and could not record an out.

The Bravehearts have clinched a first-round bye will have a day off before opening a best-of- three series in the semi-final round of the playoffs Aug. 10 against the lowest remaining seed.

The time and location of Game 1 is to be determined.
