(OTTAWA, ON) June 30, 2008 - The Brockton Rox managed to squeak by the Ottawa Rapidz to take the three-game series two games to one. The game featured great pitching but the visitors came out victorious, scoring the winning run in the 12th inning on a wild pitch by Jose Guanchez.

Melvin Falu did not waste much time in providing the Rox with an early lead. His double in the first inning scored Eugene Julien who reached base with a single. Jason Colson added to the lead in the fifth, with his first homerun of the season, a two-run shot down the first base line.

After being shut down by Wayne Lundgren in the first six innings, the Rapidz finally got on board with two runs in the seventh. Jose Salas produced the first with a single in right field scoring Felix Escalona. Pete Pirman hit into a double play while Juan Infante reached home safely for the second run. Escalona hit a sacrifice fly to score Kyle Geiger and tie the game at 3-3.

Tonight's starting pitchers were not involved in the decision despite quality starts. Fraser Robinson pitched 8.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on six hits and striking out seven. Lundgren went on for 6.2 innings allowing two earned runs, six hits and three walks. Guanchez (0-2) took the loss, while Jacob Ramos earned (3-1) the win. Jerry Dunn pitched a scoreless 12th to save his 10th game of the season.

The Rapidz are now heading on the road for three games in Sussex and five in Quebec City, the first one being the conclusion of the June 18th game that had been suspended. The game will resume in the fifth inning, with the Capitales leading the Rapidz 7-3. The team is back in Ottawa on July 9th, when Cecil Fielder and his Atlantic City Surf will be the visitors to conclude the first half of the season.

Before the game, the Rapidz have announced that LHP Jason Pilkington was released of the 22-man roster.
