June 30, 2008 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
American Defenders of New Hampshire News Release
(Nashua, N.H., June 30, 2008) Nashua Pride officials have announced today that the team has hired former Boston Red Sox hitter, Brian Daubach, to serve as the teams hitting coach for the remainder of the 2008 season.
Daubach spent five of his eight Major League seasons with the Red Sox and enjoyed his best professional years with Boston, belting 86 of his 93 career home runs and 306 of his 333 career RBI with the Red Sox. He became popular among the Boston faithful, being branded as a "Dirt Dog" for his blue collar style of play.
In 2004 Daubach won a World Series ring with the Boston Red Sox, playing in 30 games as a member of the historic team that won the American League Pennant after trailing 3-0 in the American League Championship Series to the New York Yankees.
Drafted in 1990 by the New York Mets, Daubach has played on four Major League teams including the Mets, Chicago White Sox, Florida Marlins, and Red Sox. In the big leagues, he accumulated a career batting average of .259, while earning 236 career walks with a disciplined eye at the plate.
"We couldn't be happier to have Brian as a part of our coaching staff," said Pride General Manager Chris Hall. "Any time you can get a guy with his experience, someone who's won a World Series ring, it is invaluable to your club. Our hitters are going to benefit tremendously from what Brian will bring to the team."
Daubach will begin his role as the Pride's hitting coach on Tuesday night, when Nashua hosts Cecil Fielder's Atlantic City Surf in game two of a three game series at Historic Holman Stadium at 7:05p.m.
The Nashua Pride Professional Baseball Club, entering its 11th season, provides a fun, affordable, community-based and fan-friendly source of sports entertainment. The 2007 Can-Am League Champions will be participating in its third year of play in the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
